Purpose
The purpose of the Youth Encounter Movement is to create a Christian Community of young people that share the same faith and love for Jesus, that will support one another in their desire to grow in faith, and that will be a Christian influence in their environments.

Transportation
A ride will be provided for you if there is a contact person in your area. If there is not a contact person in your area, you will need to make arrangements for someone to drop you off at Fortune Lake Camp.
Check-In
Check-in will take place between 6:00 and 6:30 PM Central Time on Friday evening at the Camp Dining Hall. Note: a meal is not served on Friday night.
Check-Out
The weekend will conclude Sunday evening around 5:00 PM Central Time. It is ESSENTIAL that you stay the entire weekend. If you cannot, please wait to come on another weekend when you can fully experience the Encounter.
Cost
The cost of the Encounter is $50.00. Please make checks payable to “St. John the Evangelist Parish.” Payment by check or cash can be made when you arrive for the retreat on Friday evening. If this is a hardship for you, no one will be turned away because of lack of funds.
What To Bring
Sleeping bag or sheets and blanket, pillow, towel, casual warm clothing (we travel outside between sleeping areas and conference areas multiple times each day), coat and hat, pajamas, toothbrush, and personal toiletries. Bring a jacket, hat, and gloves for a bonfire. You are asked to bring GOOD clothes for Sunday Mass.
What NOT To Bring
Unacceptable attire including: short dresses, tank tops, leggings, inappropriate T-shirts, etc.
Please DO NOT bring radios, iPods, alarm clocks, cell phones, or playing cards/games. You will be asked to hand in these items at the weekend.
A Final Note
IF FOR ANY REASON you must cancel out of the weekend, EVEN AT THE LAST MINUTE, please contact us immediately at (906) 396-8128. This is most important as we often have a waiting list. If we don’t hear from you we will expect to see you at Fortune Lake Camp between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. Central on Friday night. The phone number at Fortune Lake is (906) 214-2267. Please leave this number with your parents in case they need to reach you.
